Deadline Nears for Telangana Waqf Portal Registrations; Board May Seek Extension

The deadline for registrations on Telangana’s Waqf Portal is approaching, but uncertainties remain regarding extensions. As of Friday, over 40,000 waqf institutions have registered on the UMEED portal, reflecting significant participation from the State’s religious and community bodies. However, many smaller institutions are reportedly struggling to complete the registration process due to technical and documentation challenges.
The Telangana State Waqf Board has indicated that it is prepared to approach the Waqf Tribunal to request an extension of the registration deadline. Officials stressed that the extension would help ensure that all eligible waqf institutions are properly documented and can access the benefits and oversight mechanisms provided through the portal.

The UMEED portal aims to streamline management, transparency, and accountability for waqf properties and institutions in Telangana. Authorities emphasised the importance of timely registration to avoid penalties and ensure compliance with regulatory norms, while continuing efforts to assist institutions facing difficulties in completing the process.
