The Shivani Verma murder case has taken a shocking turn after a fresh police investigation. The Shivani Verma murder case happened in Narpatganj of Bihar’s Araria district, where Shivani, a BPSC teacher, was shot while going to school. Police now say she was not the real target. The killers mistook her for another woman.
Police formed a Special Investigation Team to study CCTV footage and track the shooters. Their search led them to Mohammad Maruf and Mohammad Sohail, who later confessed to the shooting. Officers also arrested Husn Ara, who planned the attack.
Investigators say Husn Ara suspected her husband of having an affair with another teacher. She paid the shooters ₹3 lakh to kill the woman she believed was involved. But the teacher she wanted dead stayed home that day. Her description matched that of Shivani Verma, which confused the shooters. They saw Shivani on the road and killed her by mistake.
Earlier, police had arrested teacher Ranjit Kumar Verma, but they released him after finding he was innocent. His family thanked the police for clearing his name and bringing the truth forward.
