Mass Migration Theft Claim Sparks Backlash at JD Vance

Migration

US Vice President JD Vance has sparked a new online storm after saying “mass migration is theft of the American Dream.” He argued that immigrants take jobs and chances from American workers. He also claimed that studies against his view come from groups “getting rich off the old system.” His post answered a video from a Louisiana construction company owner who said work habits changed after more ICE activity in the state.

However, Vance’s comments drew fast backlash. Many users pointed out that his wife, Usha Vance, is the daughter of Indian immigrants. Several critics said his remarks also targeted his own family. Others mocked his stance and accused him of double standards.

Soon after, another debate rose from his earlier claim that Americans may prefer neighbours who share their “race, language or skin colour.” He argued that some landlords place many immigrant families in small homes, and he said this creates tension in communities.

Even so, experts challenged him. Princeton historian Kevin Kruse said Vance’s words echoed old segregationist ideas.

Vance also faced criticism earlier for blaming Canada’s “foreign-born” population for slow growth. He called the country’s immigration approach “immigration insanity,” which added more fuel to the controversy.
