Weekend drunk driving checks across Cyberabad have caught 426 offenders, police officials said. The operation aimed to curb alcohol-related accidents and improve road safety during peak hours.
Traffic police set up multiple checkpoints at key intersections and highways. Vehicles were stopped for random alcohol testing, and those exceeding the permissible limit were fined or arrested. Several drivers had their licenses suspended on the spot.
Authorities emphasized that strict enforcement is crucial to reducing road accidents caused by intoxicated driving. “We will continue such drives to ensure the safety of all road users,” a police spokesperson said.
The campaign also included awareness drives, with pamphlets and public announcements highlighting the dangers of drunk driving. Residents praised the initiative, saying it encourages responsible behavior among motorists.
Cyberabad Police warned drivers to strictly follow traffic rules, especially during weekends and festive seasons. They urged citizens to report reckless driving and cooperate with enforcement measures to make roads safer for everyone.
