Teacher Salary Rule: Bihar’s New System Prioritises Teachers First

Teacher salary rule in Bihar ensures teachers are paid first every month

Teachers in Bihar will now get their salaries on the 1st of every month, under the new teacher salary rule announced by the state government. The teacher salary rule also says that education officials will receive their salaries only after teachers are paid.

The Education Department issued a new SOP to make the process smooth and timely. All DEOs and DPOs received clear instructions. Block Education Officers must send teachers’ attendance details to the District Education Officer between the 20th and 25th each month. This step will help nearly six lakh teachers across the state.

By the 25th, the District Programme Officer will prepare the salary bill and send it to the treasury on the 26th. After approval by the 30th, the salary will reach teachers’ accounts on the 1st.

For teachers paid through Samagra Shiksha funds, attendance statements must be submitted earlier—between the 20th and 22nd. Banks will receive payment advice by the 29th to ensure timely credits.

Teachers in madrasa, minority, and Sanskrit schools will also receive their payments in a fixed cycle like other government teachers.
