In the Danapur extortion case, a builder from Patna has reported receiving a deadly ransom threat of ₹5 crore. The victim, Anupam Kumar of GenX Infra Homes Pvt. Ltd., said the caller warned that he would be killed if he refused to pay. According to the complaint, this Danapur extortion case began when Anupam received a late-night call on December 4.
The caller identified himself as Lali Singh alias Ved Nidhi. He first asked whether Anupam was buying land near the Rupaspur Canal from a man named Vivek. When Anupam confirmed, the caller immediately demanded ₹5 crore.
Police said Anupam was told that he and landowner Vivek would be murdered like Deepak Mahto if the money was not paid. The criminal also suggested transferring the land to his name as an alternative to the ransom.
The builder filed a formal complaint at the Rupaspur police station on December 6. Police chief Shashi Bhushan Kumar confirmed that the accused has been named and that an investigation is underway.
