Bihar Acid Attack Case: Police Inaction Raises Questions

Bihar acid attack case victim admitted in hospital burn ward

The Bihar acid attack case involves a young woman named Priyanka from Muzaffarpur. She wanted to attend her brother’s engagement ceremony, which led to an argument with her husband. During the fight, he became violent and poured acid on her. The Bihar acid attack case has left more than 30% of her body burnt. Her face, chest, and stomach suffered serious injuries.

Priyanka was admitted to the burn ward of SKMCCH. The attack happened on Amar Cinema Road in the city police station area. However, her family says police are not recording her statement even after five days.

According to her relatives, the police told them to “go anywhere they want” and refused to take her complaint. Frustrated, Priyanka’s father contacted a lawyer and plans to file a case in court on Tuesday.

Priyanka married Arjun Kumar eight months ago. She says her in-laws have mistreated her since the beginning. She also told police that her husband attacked her after she asked to visit her parents’ home. On December 3rd, he brought battery acid and poured it on her body.

Her wounds are slowly healing, but her father says the police still refuse to take her statement.
