The Bihar cabinet approvals brought several major decisions during Tuesday’s meeting. The Bihar cabinet approvals included a 5% rise in dearness allowance for government staff and pensioners. They will now get 257% DA from July 1, 2025. This move aims to support employees as costs continue to rise.
Moreover, the government created three new departments: Youth Employment and Skill Development, Higher Education, and Civil Aviation. These new units will improve services and speed up decision-making across the state.
The meeting also approved new names for several departments. For example, the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department is now the Dairy Fisheries and Animal Resources Department. The Labor Resources Department has become the Labor Resources and Migrant Worker Welfare Department. Additionally, the Arts, Culture, and Youth Department will now be called the Arts and Culture Department.
The Directorate of Mines and Geology has been split into two units to improve monitoring and stop illegal mining. Gaya and Munger were also added as Civil Defence districts, bringing the total to 30.
Furthermore, the cabinet approved a skill agreement with NSEIL, an MoU with NIIFL for state projects, and ₹15 crore for the Valmiki Tiger Reserve Foundation. The government also removed officer Sudhir Kumar under its zero-corruption policy.
