VMC Council Meeting Turns Stormy as NDA, YSRCP Corporators Clash
The VMC council meeting in Vijayawada turned tense as NDA and YSRCP corporators clashed over key agenda items. The VMC council meeting saw loud protests, heated arguments and even a brief scuffle, creating chaos inside the hall.
Trouble began when discussions started on the alleged privatisation of government medical colleges. YSRCP corporators strongly opposed the move, while NDA members insisted that reforms would improve medical education. The two sides shouted over each other, making it hard for the council to continue the session smoothly.
The tension increased when the proposal to name a kalyana mandapam after a local freedom fighter came up. Corporators from both parties accused each other of playing politics, leading to another round of noisy protests. Marshals stepped in when a few members moved towards each other during the argument.Mayor and officials attempted to restore order, urging corporators to respect the council procedures. Despite repeated appeals, the disruptions continued for several minutes, delaying the day’s proceedings.
After the session resumed, officials managed to complete part of the agenda. However, many items remained pending due to the prolonged commotion. Senior leaders later said the council must maintain discipline to ensure smooth civic administration.
