Begusarai cloth merchant murder sent shockwaves through Teghra on Thursday morning. The Begusarai cloth merchant murder took place near Baharbanni Brahma Sthan, where 35-year-old Mohammad Shahzad was shot dead in broad daylight.
Shahzad, a resident of Fardi village under Pipra Dodraj Panchayat, ran a cloth shop at Veerpur Pul Chowk. He left home early with a bundle of clothes on his bike. Near Baharbanni Brahma Sthan, three bike-borne assailants stopped him and fired three shots in quick succession.
Two bullets hit him above the eye, while one struck his stomach. He collapsed on the road along with his bike and died on the spot. The attackers fled with ₹5,000 cash and his mobile phone.
Family members alleged that the killing followed extortion threats. They said local criminals had demanded ₹5 lakh from Shahzad.
The incident triggered anger in the area. Villagers blocked police efforts to remove the body and demanded immediate arrests. Station House Officer Ravindra Kumar reached the spot with his team and began the probe.
Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar later arrived and spoke to the family. After assurances, police sent the body to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
