Rajasthan Minister Claims Voter List Sweep Will Hit Congress Rally

Rajasthan Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel on Friday claimed that the ongoing voter list revision will remove illegal entries and ensure only eligible citizens can vote. Addressing media, Patel said, “Every Indian citizen will benefit, but infiltrators and ineligible voters will be deleted from the rolls.”

The minister also targeted the Congress, predicting its Delhi mega rally on December 14 at Ramleela Maidan will fail. He asserted that the rally will attract minimal participation, arguing that the opposition has no real issues to mobilize people. Patel specifically dismissed the Congress ‘Vote Chaur-Gaddi Chhodo’ campaign, saying voters will not join a baseless agitation.

Congress, however, claims more than 50,000 workers from Rajasthan will attend the rally. Party leaders K.C. Venugopal and Ajay Maken have directed coordinators to ensure timely arrival and smooth travel arrangements. They accused the central government and Election Commission of tampering with voter lists and violating constitutional rights.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has nearly completed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Rajasthan. About 99.6% of forms are distributed, and 99.64% have been digitized. Missing, shifted, deceased, and duplicate names have been updated, and new eligible voters added. Additional Booth Level Officers have been deployed for field verification.
