New Delhi, Aug 23 (IANS)Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the National Natural Farming Mission (NNFM) on Saturday at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) campus in Pusa, New Delhi. The initiative aims to transform Indian agriculture by promoting sustainable farming practices. It will help reduce input costs and improve soil health.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan confirmed the launch. He shared this information during a press briefing after a video conference with state agriculture ministers. “Prime Minister Modi will launch the NNFM at ICAR in Pusa on August 23,” Chouhan said. He emphasized the government’s commitment to eco-friendly agricultural development.

The Union Cabinet approved the mission in November 2024. It will run as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme until 2026. The mission focuses on improving soil fertility, reducing chemical use, and boosting climate resilience.

The mission aligns with India’s goals to lead global efforts in sustainable agriculture. It aims to address climate change, environmental damage, and the negative impact of pesticides.
