Nitish Kumar Allocated New Departments: Who Got What and Why It Matters

Nitish Kumar allocated new departments in Bihar cabinet reshuffle

Nitish Kumar allocated new departments in Bihar, reshaping responsibilities inside his cabinet after the formation of the new NDA government. The changes may look routine, but they carry political weight. Nitish Kumar allocated new departments carefully, keeping key control with himself while balancing allies.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar retained the Civil Aviation Department. He already holds General Administration, Cabinet Secretariat, Vigilance, and Election-related portfolios. He also remains in charge of departments not assigned to any minister, strengthening his central role in governance.

Education Minister Sunil Kumar received the Higher Education Department. He now manages three portfolios. Along with education, he continues to hold Science, Technology, and Technical Education. Sunil Kumar belongs to the JDU quota in the cabinet.

Labor Resources Minister Sanjay Singh Tiger was given additional responsibility. He now heads the Youth, Employment, and Skill Development Department. His earlier department was renamed as Labor Resources and Migrant Workers Welfare. Sanjay Singh Tiger comes from the BJP quota and now handles two portfolios.

The Cabinet Secretariat issued an official notification confirming these allocations. The government created these new departments to streamline administration after the new alliance took charge.

Last month, Nitish Kumar gave up the powerful Home Department. The BJP handed that role to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, ending a two-decade stretch under Nitish.
