Govt borrowings in Andhra Pradesh not benefiting people: Buggana
Govt borrowings in Andhra Pradesh are rising, but the funds are not reaching welfare schemes or helping the poor, alleged YSR Congress Party leader Buggana Rajendranath Reddy on Sunday. He said govt borrowings in Andhra Pradesh have increased sharply without visible outcomes for citizens.
Speaking in Vijayawada, Mr. Buggana criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, stating that declining revenue receipts clearly reflect the government’s failure to create wealth. He argued that increased loans should have strengthened public welfare and development, but the reality shows otherwise.
The former Finance Minister said revenue growth remains weak despite heavy borrowings. According to him, the government has not invested effectively in sectors that generate income and employment. He added that poor financial planning has placed an unnecessary burden on future generations.
Mr. Buggana also questioned the priorities of the current administration. He said funds meant for development projects and welfare schemes have not translated into tangible benefits for people across the State.
He urged the government to present transparent data on borrowings and expenditure. Sound financial management, he said, is essential to protect the State’s economy and ensure social welfare.
The YSRCP leader reiterated that responsible governance must balance borrowing with real economic growth and public benefit.
