Land reforms in Andhra Pradesh Needed, Says YSRCP Leader

Land reforms in Andhra Pradesh should be taken up by the government to protect farmers and ensure social justice, a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader said in an interview with The Hindu in Srikakulam on Sunday.
He alleged that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) deliberately spread rumours to create fear among people during the previous regime. According to him, the opposition misled landowners by claiming that land reforms would threaten their property rights.
The YSRCP leader said the controversy arose after the photograph of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy appeared on land passbooks. He clarified that the photo had no connection with ownership changes or land acquisition.
He accused the TDP of using the issue for political gain instead of addressing real concerns of farmers and landless families. Genuine land reforms, he said, would help ensure transparency, protect small farmers, and prevent illegal land dealings.
The leader added that clear communication from the government is necessary to remove misconceptions among the public. He urged authorities to educate people on the purpose and benefits of reforms. He stressed that land reforms in Andhra Pradesh would strengthen rural livelihoods and promote equitable development if implemented with fairness and clarity.
