Vajpayee Circle Inaugurated as Marrigunta NH Junction Renamed
Vajpayee Circle came into existence on Sunday after authorities officially renamed the Marrigunta National Highway junction in Tirupati in honour of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami unveiled a bronze statue of Vajpayee at the junction during a public event. Several local leaders, officials, and party workers attended the programme.
Speakers recalled Vajpayee’s contribution to national development and infrastructure growth. They highlighted his role in strengthening national highways, rural connectivity, and economic reforms. Leaders said naming the junction after him reflects public respect for his vision and leadership.
The statue installation forms part of efforts to commemorate prominent national leaders and inspire younger generations. Organisers said the location was chosen due to its strategic importance and heavy traffic residents welcomed the decision and expressed hope that the junction would now serve as a landmark in the city. Authorities said they would soon improve landscaping and lighting around the circle.
With the renaming, Vajpayee Circle is expected to become an important point of reference in Tirupati, while also serving as a reminder of the former Prime Minister’s legacy.
