Punjab schools winter vacation has been officially announced as the state government ordered the closure of all schools due to harsh winter conditions. The Punjab Education Department issued a formal notification confirming that schools across the state will remain closed from December 24 to December 31.

The decision aims to protect students from severe cold and fog, which usually peak during this period. Officials said the move prioritises student health and safety as temperatures continue to dip across several districts.

According to the notification, the winter break will apply to all government, aided, and private schools in Punjab. Academic activities will remain suspended during this period. However, administrative work may continue where required, following department guidelines.

The education department also confirmed that schools will reopen on January 1. Regular classes will resume from that day unless further instructions are issued based on weather conditions.

Parents and school authorities have welcomed the decision, calling it timely and necessary. Many regions in Punjab have already reported dense fog and cold waves, affecting daily routines and early morning travel.

Education officials advised parents to ensure children stay warm and avoid unnecessary exposure to cold during the break. They also urged schools to communicate reopening schedules clearly to students and guardians.

The winter vacation announcement brings relief to thousands of students and teachers, offering a safe pause during peak winter days across Punjab.
