Patna Lady Don Suman Devi arrested by Chowk police on Monday has ended days of suspense in the city. Patna Lady Don Suman Devi arrested from the Dhawalpura area after police received a secret tip-off about her movement.
Suman Devi is the wife of notorious criminal Jaikant Rai. She had been absconding for several days. Police say she faces one murder case and 11 cases related to liquor smuggling.
Patna DSP-2 Dr. Gaurav Kumar confirmed the arrest. He said the Chowk police team reached near Dhawalpura TOP and took her into custody on senior officers’ instructions.
According to police records, Suman Devi lives in Baglodan Gali under Chowk police station limits. Investigators revealed that liquor was procured from the Diara region. A boatman was paid ₹1,500 daily to transport it. The supply was then sent into the city using minors.
She reportedly took control of the liquor network after her husband went to jail. During questioning, several new names linked to the racket surfaced. Police teams are now searching for those suspects.
Authorities have also started legal steps to confiscate illegally acquired property linked to Suman Devi and Jaikant Rai.
