A.P. government to develop Potti Sriramulu’s Chennai residence as memorial
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday announced that the house of freedom fighter Potti Sriramulu in Chennai would be developed as a memorial to honour his supreme sacrifice for the formation of Andhra State. The Chief Minister said the Andhra Pradesh government would take necessary steps in coordination with the Tamil Nadu government to preserve the historic building and convert it into a place of remembrance.
Mr. Naidu also said that a Smruthi Vanam was being developed at Amaravati to commemorate eminent personalities who played a key role in the State’s history. As part of the project, a statue of Potti Sriramulu would be installed and named the ‘Statue of Sacrifice’, symbolising his 58-day fast that led to the creation of Andhra State in 1953.
The Chief Minister said Sriramulu’s sacrifice continued to inspire generations and assured that the government was committed to preserving his legacy for future generations through these initiatives.
