Lawyers at the Punjab and Haryana High Court have called off their strike after receiving firm assurances from the authorities. The High Court Bar Association announced that advocates will resume work from December 19.

The decision came after the government addressed all demands raised by the Bar Association. Chandigarh Bar Association honorary secretary Gagandeep Jammu confirmed the development on Wednesday.

He said authorities have taken concrete steps against officials of CIA-1, Hisar, following allegations of an attack on a lawyer. The concerned CIA-1 officers have now been named in the FIR. Police have also added relevant legal provisions, including sections of the Arms Act.

As part of the action, officials transferred the concerned SHO to police lines. Senior authorities have also initiated departmental proceedings against him. The Bar Association described these steps as satisfactory and in line with their demands.

Gagandeep Jammu stated that the assurances restored faith in due process. He urged all advocates to return to court work without further delay.

The strike had disrupted judicial functioning across Punjab and Haryana. The Bar Association had earlier announced a statewide protest, demanding strict action against the accused officers.

With the strike withdrawn, normal court proceedings are expected to resume from Thursday. The Association said it will continue to monitor the case closely. It also stressed that any future lapse would invite renewed protest.
