Karnataka BJP MLAs Walk Out Over Statement on Gruha Lakshmi Scheme Dues
BJP legislators in the Karnataka Assembly staged a walkout following a statement by Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar regarding pending payments under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme. The issue was raised after BJP MLA Mahesh Tenginakai claimed that beneficiaries had not received financial assistance for February and March 2025.
Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka sought a clear explanation from the Minister, questioning the delay in releasing funds to eligible women. He alleged that the government was misleading the House and failing to ensure timely payments under a key welfare scheme.
In response, Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar stated that the payments were being processed and assured that beneficiaries would receive the pending amounts soon. However, the BJP MLAs expressed dissatisfaction with the reply and accused the government of mismanagement.
Following the exchange, BJP members walked out of the Assembly in protest, demanding transparency and immediate release of the dues to beneficiaries.
