A complaint filed against CM Nitish has created a major political controversy after a video from a government event went viral on social media. The clip shows Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar allegedly pulling the hijab of a Muslim woman doctor while she was receiving her appointment letter. The incident has led to strong public anger and legal action.
The event took place during a government appointment distribution programme. When the woman doctor came on stage, Nitish Kumar was seen touching her hijab. It slipped from her head, leaving her visibly uncomfortable. The moment was captured on camera and quickly spread online.
Following the video, a complaint filed against CM Nitish was submitted in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Social activist Md Murtaza filed the complaint, saying the act hurt the woman’s dignity and violated her religious freedom. He demanded a proper investigation into the matter.
Opposition parties strongly criticised the Chief Minister. They called the act disrespectful and unacceptable, especially towards a woman in a public setting. Some leaders said an apology and accountability are necessary.
Supporters of Nitish Kumar claimed there was no bad intention. However, the debate continues across political and social platforms.
The incident has reopened discussions on women’s dignity, religious respect, and behaviour of public leaders.
