AIMIM AIUDF alliance discussions have intensified in Assam ahead of the next assembly elections.
AIUDF chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal announced a possible alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM.

Ajmal said AIMIM may campaign for AIUDF in the upcoming elections.
He added that discussions with Owaisi have progressed positively.
According to Ajmal, Owaisi plans to send a team to Assam after January 2.

Ajmal claimed Owaisi received nearly 100 emails urging him not to campaign.
The emails alleged that AIUDF acts as the BJP’s B team.
Despite this, Ajmal expressed hope that Owaisi would support AIUDF publicly.

AIUDF has already announced plans to contest around 35 seats.
Assam has a total of 126 assembly constituencies.
The possible alliance has caused concern within the Congress party.

After the 2021 elections, Congress officially cut ties with AIUDF.
The party removed AIUDF from the opposition grand alliance.
Congress president Gaurav Gogoi recently rejected any future alliance with AIUDF.

He described AIUDF as a communal party.
Currently, BJP and its allies hold a majority in the Assam Assembly.
