Chandigarh senior citizen card concerns have intensified as elderly groups raised objections over extra charges at Sampark Centres.
The Senior Citizens Association has written to UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria seeking immediate intervention.
The association demanded free issuance of senior citizen cards across the city.

Association president RK Garg said senior citizens face unnecessary hurdles during card registration.
He explained that Sampark Centres charge Rs 10 for forms and Rs 22 for card processing.
He questioned why elderly citizens must pay Rs 32 for a basic identity service.

The association also demanded that tenant verification should move fully online.
Members highlighted that Chandigarh still follows an offline tenant verification process.
Applicants must submit forms with photos, signatures, and thumb impressions in person.

They compared this with Panchkula, where tenant verification works completely online.
Applicants there receive digital receipts without visiting police stations or centres.
The group said Chandigarh, despite being a modern city, lags behind in digital services.

Senior citizens also renewed demands for an increase in old-age pension.
The issue was recently raised in Parliament as well.
The association urged the administration to ensure transparent, simple, and free services.
