C-CAMP Chief Stresses Role of Bio-Based Innovations in Climate Fight
Bio-based innovations key to tackling climate change, said the chief of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) on Thursday. He stressed that science-driven solutions using biological resources can reduce environmental damage and support sustainable growth.
Speaking at an event in Vijayawada, the C-CAMP chief said climate challenges require alternatives to fossil fuel-based systems. Bio-based products, he said, can lower carbon emissions and reduce dependence on non-renewable resources. Such innovations also support circular economy models.
He highlighted advances in bio-manufacturing, clean energy, and sustainable agriculture. According to him, startups and research institutions play a major role in turning laboratory ideas into real-world solutions. Collaboration between academia, industry, and government was described as essential.
The C-CAMP chief also spoke about supporting young innovators. He said platforms that fund early-stage research help bring climate-friendly technologies to market faster. India, he added, has strong potential to lead in bio-based solutions due to its talent and biodiversity.
Experts at the event discussed policy support and investment needs. They agreed that scaling up innovation is critical to meet climate goals.
