Judges Should Display Discipline, Integrity and Legal Expertise: Supreme Court Judge
A Supreme Court judge has emphasised that judges at all levels must uphold constitutional values with discipline, integrity, and sound legal knowledge. Addressing a gathering in Vijayawada, the judge advised members of the judiciary to remain calm, balanced, and composed, even while dealing with complex and sensitive cases.
He stressed that judicial conduct plays a crucial role in maintaining public confidence in the justice delivery system. Patience, clarity of thought, and adherence to ethical standards, he said, are essential qualities for judges while delivering fair and reasoned judgments.
Highlighting the importance of the district judiciary, the judge said it forms the backbone of the Indian judicial system as it is the first point of contact for citizens seeking justice. Strong and efficient district courts ensure timely justice and reduce the burden on higher courts.
He also urged judges to continuously update their legal knowledge and adapt to changing laws and societal needs. According to him, a disciplined and value-driven judiciary is vital for strengthening democracy and the rule of law.
