Sangareddy Records 5°C as 11 Telangana Districts Under Cold Wave Alert

Telangana experienced a significant drop in temperatures on December 22, 2025, with Sangareddy recording a chilling 5°C, according to the Meteorological Department. The state has issued a cold wave alert for 11 districts, including Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Medchal-Malkajgiri, urging residents to take precautions.
In Hyderabad, minimum temperatures were recorded at 7.2°C in Maredpally and 9.1°C in Uppal, highlighting the coldest spell of the season so far. Authorities have advised people, especially the elderly and children, to stay warm and limit exposure during early mornings and late nights.
The IMD attributed the drop in temperatures to the northern cold wave and clear skies, which have contributed to colder nights across Telangana. Farmers have been advised to protect crops and livestock from the cold, while local administrations are monitoring vulnerable areas. The department also warned that the cold wave could persist over the next few days, with night temperatures expected to remain below normal in several districts.
