Hundreds of villagers staged a strong protest outside the Dudu municipal office in Jaipur district on Tuesday. They alleged large-scale corruption and bribery in the Prime Minister Awas Yojana. Protesters claimed that ineligible people received housing benefits, while poor families were denied support.

Villagers said officials demanded money at every stage of the process. They alleged bribes were sought for moving files forward, adding names during surveys, and releasing instalments. Many genuine beneficiaries claimed they had visited the municipality for years without results.

Protesters stated that the scheme, meant for the poor, had turned into a source of exploitation. One villager said poor families dream of owning a house but face constant harassment. The protest echoed with slogans demanding a fair investigation and strict punishment.

The demonstration caused heavy commotion at the municipal premises. Villagers submitted a memorandum to officials, highlighting their grievances. They warned that protests would intensify if authorities failed to act.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate said complaints had been received against a municipal employee. He assured that all allegations would be investigated thoroughly. Officials said further action would follow after discussions with the Executive Officer.

The incident has raised serious concerns about transparency in welfare schemes. Locals fear continued injustice if swift corrective steps are not taken.
