Andhra Pradesh Govt. to Develop Medical Colleges Under PPP Model

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to go ahead with the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for developing medical colleges in the State, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Tuesday. He directed senior officials to take forward the proposed model strictly in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Union government and ensure transparency at every stage.
Chairing a review meeting in Vijayawada, the Chief Minister asked officials to effectively counter the misinformation being spread about the PPP model. He clarified that the initiative aims to strengthen medical education infrastructure, increase the number of medical seats, and improve healthcare services, especially in underserved regions.
Mr. Naidu emphasised that government interests, affordability for students, and quality standards would be fully safeguarded under the PPP framework. He also instructed officials to communicate the benefits of the model clearly to the public and stakeholders. The government, he said, remains committed to expanding access to medical education while maintaining regulatory oversight and public accountability.
