Rushikonda Building May Be Repurposed Under Hospitality Model, Says A.P. Cabinet Panel
An A.P. Cabinet Sub-Committee has favoured adopting a hospitality model for the utilisation of the controversial Rushikonda building, according to official sources. The panel, which reviewed various options for repurposing the structure, felt that converting it into a hospitality or tourism-related facility would help generate revenue while ensuring productive use of the asset.
During its meeting in Vijayawada on Tuesday, the Sub-Committee discussed the financial, legal, and operational aspects of different proposals. Members noted that a hospitality model could align with the State’s broader tourism promotion strategy and reduce the burden on the public exchequer.
However, the panel has not taken a final decision yet. It is scheduled to meet again shortly to examine additional alternatives and seek expert opinions before submitting its recommendations to the Cabinet. The government has maintained that a transparent and economically viable approach will be adopted in deciding the future use of the Rushikonda building, keeping public interest in mind.
