Jitan Ram Manjhi insists on Rajya Sabha seat, saying senior BJP leaders assured him of the post during the Lok Sabha elections. The Union minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) chief said the promise was part of a broader understanding within the NDA alliance.
Speaking to the media in Bihar, Manjhi said BJP leader Amit Shah had personally assured him of one Rajya Sabha seat for his party. He added that his party was also promised two Lok Sabha seats, but it finally received only one.
Manjhi said he accepted a Union Cabinet position after winning the Lok Sabha election. However, he now wants the alliance to honor its earlier commitment. He made it clear that his party will not stay silent on the issue.
The senior leader also revealed that he advised his son and Bihar minister Santosh Suman to push for the Rajya Sabha seat. He said political positions matter less than long-term representation in Parliament.
Manjhi argued that his party’s support base and loyalty to the NDA deserve recognition. As Rajya Sabha elections approach, his demand has added pressure within the alliance and sparked fresh political discussion in Bihar.
