HYDRAA Commissioner Orders Preparations of Lakes for International Kite Festival
The HYDRAA Commissioner has directed officials to make necessary arrangements to ready lakes in Hyderabad for the upcoming International Kite Festival. During a review meeting held on Tuesday, the Commissioner emphasised the importance of ensuring safety, cleanliness, and proper infrastructure around the identified lakes where kite-flying activities are expected to attract large crowds.
Officials were instructed to undertake desilting, remove water hyacinth, strengthen embankments, and ensure adequate lighting and sanitation facilities. The Commissioner also called for coordination between multiple departments, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, police, and tourism authorities, to manage crowd movement and maintain law and order during the event.
Special focus has been laid on preventing accidents and ensuring that no environmental damage occurs during the festival. The authorities were asked to complete all preparatory works well in advance. The International Kite Festival, a major cultural event, draws participants and visitors from across the country and abroad, adding to Hyderabad’s festive appeal.
