Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky will soon visit India, according to Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandr Polishchuk. He said the visit aims to strengthen ties between the two countries. Dates for the trip are being finalized.
Last year in August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kyiv, where he extended an invitation to President Zelensky. Now, Zelensky’s India tour is being planned in response to that invitation.
Prime Minister Modi has repeatedly stressed that India supports peace between Ukraine and Russia. He has also made it clear that “this is not an era of war” and urged both nations to pursue dialogue. Recently, Modi held separate telephone conversations with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Zelensky, underlining India’s stand for peace.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin is also expected to visit India later this year. With both Zelensky and Putin scheduled for separate visits, India is likely to play an important role in ongoing efforts to ease tensions between the two countries.
