GHMC Standing Committee Clears ₹11,460-Crore Budget Proposals

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee has cleared Budget proposals amounting to ₹11,460 crore for the upcoming financial year. The proposals focus on strengthening civic infrastructure, improving public services, and addressing key urban challenges across Hyderabad.
Major allocations have been earmarked for road development, drainage and sewerage works, solid waste management, and sanitation. The Budget also prioritises flood mitigation measures, including nala development and stormwater drainage projects, in view of recurrent monsoon-related issues in the city. Funds have been set aside for parks, street lighting, and maintenance of public spaces to enhance urban living conditions.
Officials said the proposals aim to balance development with financial prudence while meeting the growing demands of a rapidly expanding metropolis. The Budget also includes provisions for administrative expenses and repayment of existing liabilities.
The approved proposals will now be placed before the GHMC Council for final approval. Civic authorities expressed confidence that the Budget would help improve service delivery and support Hyderabad’s long-term urban development goals.
