New Year Sri Harimandir celebrations witnessed an overwhelming turnout of devotees at Sri Harimandir Sahib in Amritsar. Sangat from India and abroad gathered in large numbers to welcome 2026 with prayers and devotion.
Devotees began arriving at the Golden Temple complex from Tuesday evening. Despite biting cold and dense fog, the spirit among the pilgrims remained high. As the clock struck midnight, the atmosphere echoed with holy chants and slogans. Devotees offered prayers for peace, good health, progress, and collective welfare.
Many devotees took a holy dip in the sacred Sarovar before paying obeisance inside the sanctum. Pilgrims waited in queues for four to seven hours. The long wait and harsh weather failed to dampen their faith. Devotees expressed gratitude for getting the opportunity to seek blessings on such an auspicious occasion.
Several prominent political, religious, and social figures also visited Sri Harimandir Sahib. Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal and former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal bowed their heads at the shrine. They offered prayers for Sarbat da Bhala and extended New Year greetings to the devotees.
