Vijayawada: The Kanaka Durga Temple on Indrakeeladri hill will introduce strict rules for devotees starting September 27. Temple Executive Officer Sheena Naik said that only devotees in traditional attire can enter. Those in modern or objectionable clothes will not be allowed inside.
The temple will also stop the use of mobile phones within the premises. Devotees, staff, and VIP visitors must deposit their phones at the temple office before entry. Officials stressed that the new rules aim to create order and prevent misuse of gadgets during worship.
The decision comes after repeated incidents of devotees entering in improper clothing and clicking photos or recording videos inside the shrine. Many of these posts went viral on social media, which temple authorities considered an insult to its traditions.
Officials stated that the changes will help preserve the temple’s sanctity. By enforcing a dress code and banning mobiles, they aim to protect cultural values and ensure a peaceful, spiritual atmosphere for all worshippers.
