Bihar authorities have seized corrupt officials’ assets worth Rs 4.14 crore. The Vigilance Bureau acted against eight officials involved in corruption cases between 2012 and 2019. The move targets former village heads, administrative officers, and other government employees who illegally accumulated wealth.
The eight accused include two former mukhiyas, a former SDO, a former CDPO, a forest range officer, a judicial magistrate, a former superintending engineer, and a tax inspector. Their assets will now be transferred to the state after approval from the competent authority.
Notable cases include former forest officer Dilip Kumar, whose assets worth Rs 88 lakh are seized, and ex-SDO Vijay Pratap Singh, with properties valued over Rs 62 lakh. Other officials include Phoolpari Kumari, Ajay Kumar Gupta, Pramod Kumar Rai, Manager Yadav, Om Prakash Manjhi, and Rakesh Kumar Rai. Their combined seized assets are substantial.
This action is part of Bihar’s ongoing vigilance drive. So far, proposals to seize nearly Rs 97 crore in corrupt assets have been submitted in 119 cases. Many of these cases are pending in courts or high courts.
