December Liquor Sales Soar in Andhra Pradesh Ahead of New Year
Andhra Pradesh witnessed a significant surge in liquor sales in December 2025, driven largely by New Year festivities, officials said. Sales peaked sharply during the last three days of the year, as consumers stocked up for celebrations, resulting in record daily revenues for retail outlets across the State.
Industry sources noted that both branded and local spirits saw increased demand, with liquor stores reporting long queues and high footfall, especially in urban centres like Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Guntur. Officials attributed the surge to festive celebrations, increased disposable income, and promotional offers by licensed retailers.
The government also benefited from the spike in sales, as excise revenue forms a major component of State income. Authorities confirmed that strict adherence to age verification and licensing regulations was maintained despite the increased rush.
While December sales usually see an uptick due to festivities, the intensity of this year’s demand highlights the growing consumer spending capacity in Andhra Pradesh, providing a boost to both the excise department and the retail sector.
