Nalagarh Blast Responsibility Claimed

The Nalagarh Blast Responsibility Claimed by Babbar Khalsa International has triggered serious security concerns in Himachal Pradesh. The explosion occurred on Thursday near the Nalagarh police station and prompted an immediate response from central agencies.

Soon after the incident, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) claimed responsibility for the blast. The group said it carried out the attack along with the Punjab Sovereignty Alliance (PSA). According to officials, the explosion involved an improvised explosive device and targeted a sensitive police area.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) launched a joint probe into the incident. Teams reached the site, collected forensic samples, and examined CCTV footage from nearby locations. Investigators are also analysing mobile and digital data.

Additionally, a social media post claimed responsibility for the attack. An Instagram account named “JassasinghPSA” uploaded a post on January 1, 2026. The message used inflammatory language and openly targeted the Indian government and police forces.

In the post, the group alleged that the blast protested the production of synthetic drugs in Himachal Pradesh and their supply to Punjab. However, investigators are verifying these claims and tracing the account’s origin. Cyber teams are working to identify the individuals behind the post.

As a result, police tightened security across Nalagarh and nearby areas. Authorities increased patrolling near police stations, government buildings, and crowded public places. Moreover, intelligence units started monitoring social media platforms to curb the spread of extremist content.

Earlier reports confirmed that the blast caused no civilian casualties. However, officials stressed that any attack near police infrastructure poses a serious threat to public safety and national security.

Senior officers stated that strict legal action will follow once agencies identify the full network behind the attack. Therefore, the NIA is likely to register a case under anti-terror laws in the coming days.

Overall, the incident highlights the growing misuse of social media by extremist groups. It also underlines the need for strong surveillance and swift enforcement action to prevent such attacks.
