Chandigarh University Holds 7th Annual Convocation

Chandigarh University (CU) on Saturday organised the 7th Annual Convocation of CU Online, awarding undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to 719 students from across India. Graduates attended the ceremony along with their families, marking an important milestone in their academic journey.

The prestigious convocation ceremony took place in the presence of Dnyan Shah, Senior Vice President and Global Head (HR), Mphasis Limited, who attended as the Chief Guest. Senior university officials, including Dr Raviraja N Seetharam, Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) SS Sehgal, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and Prof (Dr) Gurpreet Singh, Director, CU Online, were also present.

Of the total degrees awarded to the 2025 batch of online learners, 597 were postgraduate degrees, while 122 were undergraduate degrees. Among postgraduate students, 326 received MBA degrees, followed by 175 MCA graduates. In addition, the university awarded degrees in Psychology, Data Science, English, Mathematics, Journalism and Mass Communication, along with MA Economics and M.Com.

Meanwhile, the undergraduate degrees included 44 BBA, 48 BCA, 12 B.Com, eight BA English, four BBA (ACCA), and four BA Journalism and Mass Communication students. Degrees were also conferred on learners from other undergraduate programmes.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Dnyan Shah encouraged students to embrace continuous learning and strengthen their digital skills. She highlighted that workplaces are evolving rapidly and employers now value professionals who adapt to technology and solve real-world problems. She added that online education has emerged as a powerful medium for gaining industry-relevant skills and improving employability.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Vice-Chancellor Dr Raviraja N Seetharam underlined the role of youth in achieving India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. He said Chandigarh University remains committed to delivering quality education through online platforms, enabling students to accelerate their careers and contribute meaningfully to national development.
