Japleen Kaur Honoured

Japleen Kaur honoured by Mayank Foundation marked a proud moment for Punjab badminton as the four-time state champion received recognition for her consistent excellence. The Foundation felicitated the young shuttler for her remarkable rise at both state and national levels.

Japleen Kaur recently won a silver medal at the National Badminton Championship held in Bhagalpur, Bihar. With this achievement, she brought laurels to Ferozepur and the state of Punjab. Her performance strengthened her position as one of Punjab’s most promising badminton players.

On this occasion, Mayank Foundation presented Japleen with a cash award of ₹11,000 and a memento. The honour recognised her discipline, dedication, and commitment to the sport. The ceremony took place under the presidentship of Dr Anirudh Gupta.

Notably, Japleen started playing badminton at just six years of age. Over the years, she steadily improved her skills through hard work and focused training. As a result, she emerged as a four-time Punjab State Badminton Champion at a young age.

Adding to her achievements, Japleen clinched two gold medals at the 8th Mayank Sharma Memorial Badminton Tournament held in December 2025. These victories further highlighted her consistency and competitive spirit on the court.

Meanwhile, Mayank Foundation said the initiative to honour young badminton talent began last year. The Foundation first felicitated Manya Ralhan. Since then, it has become an annual tradition. Every year, promising players receive encouragement during the Mayank Sharma Memorial Badminton Tournament.

Furthermore, the Foundation congratulated Japleen’s parents, Smt. Puneet Kaur and Jagandeep Singh. It also acknowledged her coach, Mandeep Singh, for his guidance and constant support.

Secretary Rajiv Setia said promoting young achievers remains a key mission of Mayank Foundation. He added that recognising talent at the right time motivates athletes to aim higher. Through such initiatives, the Foundation continues to strengthen grassroots sports in Punjab.
