Jaishankar Meets IEA Chief in France to Discuss Energy Security and Collaboration
India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, met with Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), during his official visit to France. The discussions focused on global energy security, sustainable energy transition, and avenues for collaboration between India and international energy stakeholders.
Jaishankar, who is on a six-day visit to France and Luxembourg, highlighted India’s growing energy demand and its commitment to expanding renewable energy capacity, including solar and wind projects. He also emphasized the importance of international cooperation to ensure stable energy supplies, technology sharing, and investment in clean energy infrastructure.
Both officials discussed strategic initiatives to promote energy efficiency, decarbonization, and the adoption of cleaner fuels, reflecting India’s efforts to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability. Jaishankar’s meetings aim to strengthen bilateral ties in the energy sector, attract global partnerships, and support India’s transition toward a more sustainable and resilient energy ecosystem.
