The resignation of Rajasthan Public Service Commission member Sangeeta Arya has been formally accepted by Governor Haribhau Bagade. Following the approval, the state’s Personnel Department issued an official order confirming the acceptance of her resignation.

Sangeeta Arya had submitted her resignation to the Governor in November last year. After the decision, her photograph and profile were removed from the official RPSC website. With her exit, the commission now lists seven members. One of them, Babulal Katara, is currently shown as suspended.

The previous Congress government appointed Sangeeta Arya as an RPSC member in October 2020. Her six-year tenure was scheduled to end in October 2026. She is also the wife of former Rajasthan Chief Secretary Niranjan Arya. Her resignation has resulted in the absence of any female member in the commission at present.

The development follows strong observations made by the Rajasthan High Court while ordering the cancellation of the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination 2021. The court made sharp remarks against the former RPSC chairman and members, raising concerns about systemic corruption within the commission.

After these remarks, RPSC member Manju Sharma resigned in September on moral grounds. Sangeeta Arya followed with her resignation in November. The court stated that alleged involvement of members had compromised the credibility of both written exams and interviews.
