Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt said the talks aim to address strong US statements. She stressed the need for clarity on Greenland’s status and intentions.
European leaders issued a joint warning on Tuesday. They said the territorial integrity of Denmark and Greenland must be respected. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also responded firmly. She warned that any US attack on Greenland would destroy NATO and decades of shared security.
Trump argues that Greenland holds strategic value in the Arctic. He cites growing Chinese and Russian activity in the region.
