Delhi Assembly Disrupted Over Guru Tegh Bahadur Row

Delhi Assembly erupts protest

The Delhi Assembly erupts protest as AAP and BJP legislators clashed on Thursday over alleged insults to Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur. The uproar disrupted proceedings and led to repeated adjournments in the House.

AAP MLAs accused BJP leaders of spreading an edited video that allegedly misrepresented comments by AAP leader Atishi. They demanded the suspension of Law Minister Kapil Mishra and other BJP MLAs who reposted the clip. According to AAP, the video hurt religious sentiments and distorted facts.

Meanwhile, BJP members strongly rejected the allegations. They accused AAP leaders of disrespecting Guru Tegh Bahadur and staged counter-protests inside the Assembly. As a result, sloganeering and disruptions continued throughout the session.

After order failed to return, Speaker Vijender Gupta intervened. He referred the matter related to Atishi’s alleged remarks to the Committee of Privileges for detailed examination. He said the committee would assess the facts and submit a report.

The Delhi Assembly erupts protest episode highlights growing political tension between the two parties. Observers say the controversy may continue to influence political discourse in the capital. For now, the Assembly waits for the committee’s findings to determine further action.
