Jagan Warns of Agitation Over Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, Accuses Naidu of Neglect
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday warned of launching a statewide agitation if the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led government failed to take up the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme. Addressing party leaders in Vijayawada, Mr. Jagan accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of neglecting the interests of Rayalaseema and prioritising personal and political gains over the welfare of the State.
He alleged that the present government had stalled the much-needed irrigation project, which was aimed at providing drinking and irrigation water to drought-prone regions of Rayalaseema. Mr. Jagan said the scheme was crucial for ensuring water security, improving farm productivity and uplifting farmers in the backward region.
Asserting that the YSRCP remained committed to the project, he vowed to complete the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme at “lightning speed” if his party returned to power. He called upon party cadres to be prepared for protests to safeguard the region’s rights and development.
