Jaishankar Meets Macron, Highlights Strong India-France Strategic Partnership
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met French President Emmanuel Macron during his six-day visit to France and Luxembourg, highlighting the “positive sentiments” shared between India and France regarding their strategic partnership. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as defence, technology, climate change, and trade.
During his visit, Jaishankar also addressed the Ambassadors’ Conference of France on January 8, 2026, where he emphasised the importance of deepening diplomatic ties and enhancing multilateral collaboration. He underlined India’s commitment to working closely with France on global challenges, including security, sustainable development, and energy transition.
Officials noted that the visit aimed to consolidate the long-standing partnership between the two countries, build momentum in ongoing projects, and explore new avenues for collaboration. Jaishankar’s engagements reflect India’s proactive approach to fostering strong bilateral relationships with key European nations, while promoting shared interests and mutual trust in international affairs.
