India Closely Monitoring Iran, Advises Citizens to Exercise Caution Amid Protests

India is closely monitoring the situation in Iran following recent unrest and protests, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday. The statement comes after New Delhi on January 5 advised Indian nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Iran and urged those already in the country to exercise heightened caution.
The MEA specifically advised Indian citizens in Iran to avoid areas witnessing demonstrations or large gatherings, citing safety concerns amid ongoing political tensions. Authorities also assured that the Indian Embassy in Tehran is in constant touch with citizens and providing necessary assistance as needed.
India’s close observation reflects concerns over the safety of its nationals and the potential impact of regional instability on bilateral relations. The MEA emphasized the importance of staying informed through official channels and following local instructions.
Officials have reiterated that India will continue engaging with Iranian authorities to ensure the security and welfare of its citizens while monitoring developments in the country.
