Chandrababu Naidu Urges Telugu States to Avoid Water Disputes, Focus on River Interlinking

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday urged Telugu states to avoid disputes over water sharing and focus on cooperative solutions to tackle drought and water scarcity. Speaking at Rayavaram in East Godavari district, Mr. Naidu emphasised that rather than engaging in conflicts with Telangana over Godavari water, the priority should be utilising surplus water that currently flows into the sea.
He highlighted the potential of interlinking rivers within Andhra Pradesh as a sustainable solution to channel excess water to drought-prone regions, thereby improving agriculture and water availability across the State. The Chief Minister stated that such an approach would benefit farmers, industries, and the overall economy, and foster regional cooperation rather than conflict.
Mr. Naidu also pointed out that while the Opposition focuses on disputes with Telangana, his administration remains committed to pragmatic water management strategies and long-term planning to ensure water security for all citizens of Andhra Pradesh.
