Guntur Police Seize 4.4 kg Ganja, 11 Arrested in Two Cases
Guntur police have arrested 11 people in connection with two separate drug-related cases and seized 4.4 kg of ganja, officials said on Friday. The arrests form part of intensified enforcement under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act to curb illegal drug trade in the district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of Guntur stated that over the past three months, the police had registered 46 NDPS cases, resulting in the arrest of 217 individuals. During this period, a total of 78 kg of contraband, including ganja, liquid ganja, and MDMA, was confiscated from various locations. The SP emphasized that the police were committed to cracking down on drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of residents, especially young people vulnerable to substance abuse.
Authorities also said that investigations were ongoing to identify and apprehend larger networks behind the drug operations. Community awareness drives are being conducted alongside enforcement to prevent further drug-related offences.
The recent seizures reflect the police department’s proactive stance against narcotics in Guntur.
